Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Systems Biology, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in one or more of the following areas: computational retrobiosynthesis/pathway modeling, bioprocess modeling, or multi-omics data analysis and integration.
  • Familiarity with statistical data analysis and relevant computational tools and libraries in Python and/or R.
  • Ideally experience with advanced data science methods (e.g., CNNs, Transformers) and relevant technical tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, interdisciplinary research environment.

Job Description:

As a Systems Biologist at BASF, you will:

  • Develop and apply methods for modeling biological systems related to industrial biotechnology, toxicology, biodegradation, and agriculture.
  • Extract meaningful insights from analytics and effectively communicate results to project partners.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams and provide guidance on experimental planning and data processing/analysis.
  • Facilitate the development of computational tools for scientist use through applications and dashboards.
  • Stay updated with advancements in systems biology including AI, graph methodologies, and optimization techniques.
