Job Description:
Postdoc (H/F): Thérapie Génique et Mécanismes Pathologiques des Modèles Murins SCN2A de Troubles Neuro-Développementaux
The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for developing and conducting experiments in the field of research on neurodevelopmental disorders and epilepsies related to SCN2A gene mutations. These mutations in voltage-dependent sodium channels have been implicated in severe neurodevelopmental disorders, including epileptic and developmental encephalopathies (DEEs). The project aims to develop treatments that target the new mechanism, including gene therapy approaches, or address the loss-of-function mutations. Testing the effects of these treatments on mouse phenotypes, comparing knock-in and knock-out models, is also part of the research objectives.
Activities:
- Gene therapy in mice: intracerebral injections of AAV viral vectors.
- Pharmacological treatments in mice.
- Behavioral tests on mice to assess cognitive functions, motor skills, and social interactions.
- Performing mouse interventions such as stereotaxic brain surgery, injections, sampling, and tagging.
- Chronic video-EEG recordings in mice and signal analysis.
- Data formatting and statistical analysis.
- Keeping up with the literature and improving/adapting techniques and analyses as per research projects.
Skills:
- Proficiency in conducting mouse behavioral experiments.
- Expertise in brain surgery, particularly stereotaxy and viral injections in mice.
- Data analysis skills, including statistical analysis and signal analysis (EEG).
- Training in animal experimentation and surgery.
- Organizational skills, precision, motivation, and autonomy.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Work Context: The position is located at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology in Valbonne – Sophia Antipolis (Alpes-Maritimes). The IPMC is a joint research unit (UMR 7275) formed between the CNRS and the University Côte d’Azur, comprising 20 research teams with cutting-edge facilities in integrative biology, electrophysiology, molecular and cellular biology, imaging, cytometry, biomolecule analysis, and functional genomics. The common technical platforms for animal experimentation allow for detailed phenotyping of mice. The postdoc will work in the “Physiopathology of Na+ Channels and Neuronal Excitability” team under the direction of Massimo Mantegazza.
Application Deadline : 24 October 2023
Constraints and Risks: Standard risks associated with the use of chemical and biological products.
