Eligibility/Qualification
- Master’s degree with PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong background in X-ray methods; experience with synchrotron or neutron methods is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of catalysis and energy storage materials, with an interest in operando characterization.
- Experience with programming/scripting (ideally Python).
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Excellent teamwork skills alongside an independent and self-motivated work approach.
- Willingness for international travel and extended research stays at partner facilities.
Job Description
- Conduct operando investigations of energy materials, emphasizing chemical hydrogen storage.
- Design, develop, and optimize advanced sample environments and reactors for high-throughput analysis.
- Apply and advance X-ray methods using both in-house facilities and synchrotron beamlines.
- Execute operando studies to understand relationships between structure, morphology, performance, and degradation mechanisms under realistic conditions.
- Participate in beam time at international large-scale research facilities (e.g., DESY, ESRF).
- Develop data workflows and analysis strategies in collaboration with the machine learning team.
- Contribute to scientific publications, project reports, and international conferences.
- Supervise and mentor PhD and Master’s students.
- Write and support third-party funding proposals.
- Actively contribute to the establishment and operation of the INW Long-Term Characterization X-Ray Laboratory.
