Postdoc in 2D Material Interfaces: The Precision and Microsystems Engineering Department at TU Delft invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position in bionanophotonics. This position, part of the ERC StG project SIMPHONICS, focuses on the development of single-molecule platforms based on 2D materials for high-resolution and high-throughput detection of biomolecule mechanics and dynamics. The successful candidate will work in the group of Dr. Sabina Caneva, contributing to cutting-edge research in nanofabrication, 2D materials nanomechanics, and nanophotonics.

Postdoc in Single-molecule Biophysics at 2D Material Interfaces

Location: Precision and Microsystems Engineering Department, TU Delft, Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. degree in Physics, Biophysics, Nanoscience, Materials Science, Engineering, or similar
  • Experience in single-molecule fluorescence (smFRET is desirable), 2D material nanofabrication, or nanopore measurements
  • Creative, open-minded, and proactive researcher
  • Excellent experimental and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a team
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Conditions of Employment:

  • Salary: €4,036 – €5,090 per month gross
  • Customizable compensation package, health insurance discounts, and a monthly work costs contribution
  • Flexible work schedules
  • Temporary assignment for 18 months

Job Description: The postdoc will work on the SIMPHONICS project, focusing on innovative single-molecule detection platforms and gaining insights into light-matter interactions at the nanoscale. Responsibilities include working with state-of-the-art facilities, labs, and equipment, collaborating in an interdisciplinary team, and contributing to the development of next-generation protein fingerprinting.
