Postdoc in Denmark

Postdoc in Cell Biology: The Department of Chemistry and Bioscience at the Faculty of Engineering and Science is offering a two-year Postdoc position in Cell Biology, starting from 1 September 2024, or soon thereafter. The successful candidate will join a vibrant and interdisciplinary research environment at Aalborg University, contributing to cutting-edge research and educational activities in biotechnology, biology, environmental science, chemistry, and chemical engineering.

DesignationPostdoc in Cell Biology
Research AreaCell Biology, Intracellular Signal Transduction, Calcium Signaling
LocationAalborg, Denmark
Eligibility/QualificationPhD in Cell Biology or related field, experience in mammalian cell culture, microscopy, calcium signaling, and calcium imaging
Job DescriptionConduct biophysical and cellular studies on the IP3/Ca2+-signaling pathway, focusing on the regulation by calmodulin (CaM). Design and implement protocols to study IP3R and CaM interactions, and explore the pathological implications of CaM mutations.

Job Description: A Postdoc position is available to explore the enigmas of intracellular signal transduction with a focus on the calcium (Ca2+) feedback loop in IP3/Ca2+-signaling. IP3 stimulates the release of Ca2+ stored in the endoplasmic reticulum through IP3 receptors (IP3Rs). A critical aspect of Ca2+-signaling is the ability of Ca2+ to self-regulate by feedback mainly mediated by the Ca2+-binding protein calmodulin (CaM). This project aims to unravel the mechanisms by which CaM regulates the IP3Rs and to investigate if altered IP3R regulation is involved in diseases caused by mutations in CaM. The research will involve biophysical and cellular approaches to study these interactions.
