Postdoc in Spain

Postdoc in Comparative Genomicsm: The Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) invites applications for a Postdoctoral position in the exciting field of comparative genomics of plant-associated bacteria. The successful candidate will contribute to unraveling the impact of mutation and recombination biases on the evolution of these bacteria, with implications for both fundamental science and applied agricultural practices.

Designation: Postdoc

Research Area: Comparative Genomics of Plant-Associated Bacteria

Location: Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification: The ideal candidate should hold a doctoral degree in bioinformatics, comparative genomics, computer modeling, or a related field. We are seeking individuals with a high degree of autonomy, a keen interest in shaping research direction, and a passion for contributing to the understanding of evolutionary forces in genetic constructs.

Job Description:

Postdoc in Comparative Genomics of Plant-Associated Bacteria

The postdoc will be actively involved in using comparative genomics and computer modeling to investigate the evolutionary persistence of natural and synthetic genetic elements in plant-associated bacteria. The project is part of a consortium employing systems and synthetic biology approaches to agriculture, emphasizing the critical role of understanding evolutionary forces in genetic constructs for the success of this initiative.

The successful candidate will join the Centre for Plant Biotechnology and Genomics (CBGP), a mixed research centre supported by UPM and the National Research Council (CSIC). The position offers ample opportunities for career development, including potential involvement in student supervision, pursuit of funding opportunities, engagement in teaching, and participation in international conferences. The post is available from January 2024 for a duration of 2 years.
