Postdoc in Data Science – Aarhus University, Denmark

AIAS-COFUND Fellowships for Young Talented Researchers in Denmark

Postdoc in Data Science: The Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG) at Aarhus University is seeking a Data Science Postdoc to work on statistical signal processing of greenhouse gas emission data from agriculture, focusing on livestock-derived methane emissions. The position is a fixed-term, full-time role for two years, starting on 1 June 2024, with possibilities for extension.

Postdoc in Data Science – Statistical Signal Processing of Greenhouse Gas Emission Data

Designation: Postdoc in Data Science

Research Area: Statistical Signal Processing of Greenhouse Gas Emission Data from Agriculture, with a focus on Livestock-Derived Methane Emissions

Location: Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG), Aarhus University, C.F. Møllers Allé 3, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in electrical engineering, statistics, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or related fields.
  • Strong statistical and programming background.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing models and/or automated data processing.
  • Some experience in software development is desirable.
  • Knowledge in statistical signal processing (advantageous but not mandatory).
  • Effective communication skills in written and spoken English.

Job Description: The postdoc will work on advancing the sniffer-based gas emission measurement technique for livestock-derived methane emissions. The focus is on developing and validating a fully automated pipeline to enhance the quality and reliability of data from sniffers, allowing effective monitoring, fault detection, data filtering, and quality control. The ultimate goal is to provide reliable phenotypic records ready for quantitative genetic analysis, breeding value estimation, and the design of emission mitigation strategies.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their application online via the apply button on the official website. Only online applications will be processed.
