Eligibility/Qualification

| PhD | In electrical engineering, computer engineering, geoinformatics, computer science, or a related field focusing on deep learning applied to remote sensing or geospatial data. |
| Experience | Documented experience with deep learning model development (CNNs, UNets, Transformers) and working with satellite data, particularly SAR and multi-spectral imagery. |
| Skills | Strong programming skills in Python and experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch). |
| Communication | Excellent written and spoken English skills. |
| Publication Record | Strong publication record relative to career stage. |
| Advantageous Experience | Deep learning analysis of satellite soil moisture missions, super-resolution techniques, explainable AI methods, experience in collaborative, cross-cultural research environments. |
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Develop deep learning models for spatiotemporal fusion of multi-sensor satellite data.
- Design and evaluate architectures for remote sensing super-resolution.
- Apply explainable AI methods to interpret model behavior and predictions.
- Publish high-impact research and contribute to outreach activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the Hydrogeophysics Group and international partners in Ethiopia.
