Eligibility/Qualification:
- Required:
- PhD in agricultural sciences, crop modelling, soil hydrology, digital agriculture, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in crop modelling, specifically APSIM.
- Experience with field data collection focusing on crop water use efficiency/soil hydrology.
- Proficiency in scientific writing and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Collaborative skills with the ability to work in teams.
- Preferred:
- Experience with digital sensors (e.g., drones, soil probes).
- Coding skills (e.g., Python) for deep learning and data fusion.
- Teaching and supervision experience at BSc and MSc levels.
- Interest in developing competitive national and international research applications.
Job Description:
The selected candidate will:
- Collect high-time resolution data on deep root traits, crop canopy dynamics, and water use efficiency of perennial grain crops in varying conditions.
- Validate digital sensors for crop water use determination.
- Conduct crop modelling (e.g., using APSIM) with an emphasis on water use efficiency.
- Integrate digital sensing technology with model platforms for improved calibration.
