Postdoc in Evolutionary Genomics: The University of Göttingen invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Evolutionary Genomics and Bioinformatics under the Research Training Group GRK 2984 – Evolutionary Genomics: Consequences of Biodiverse Reproductive Systems. The successful candidate will support collaborative research focusing on nuclear genome evolution in eukaryotes, guiding synthesis publications and training PhD researchers.

🎓 Eligibility / Qualification

Required:

  • PhD in Biology (with focus on evolutionary genomics) or Bioinformatics/Computational Biology (with focus on eukaryotic genomes)
  • Expertise in genomics (including large/polyploid genomes)
  • Strong background in evolution theory, particularly reproductive systems and sexual/asexual evolution
  • Proven publication record in relevant areas
  • Proficiency in scientific English (min. C1)
  • Experience in teaching/training students in genomics/bioinformatics/statistics
  • Experience with multi-author collaborations and teamwork

  • Coordinate and lead synthesis publications across 11 interdisciplinary subprojects
  • Focus research on the evolution of nuclear genomes in eukaryotes
  • Develop and implement genomic analysis pipelines
  • Train PhD candidates through workshops and courses
  • Lead and co-author high-impact meta-analytical papers
  • Present findings at national and international conferences
  • Contribute original ideas to collaborative outputs and benefit from first-authorship opportunities
