Postdoc in experimental evolution: The Laboratory of Genetics at Wageningen University invites applications for a fully funded postdoctoral research position focusing on the evolution of antibiotic resistance in spatially structured environments. This position is part of a collaborative project funded by the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO).

Postdoc in experimental evolution of beta-lactam resistance in structured environments

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Experimental evolution of beta-lactam resistance in structured environments

Location: Wageningen

Eligibility/Qualification: A highly motivated individual with a PhD in molecular evolutionary biology, microbial genetics, or a related field. Solid experience in microbiological and molecular genetics, expertise in genome analyses, and familiarity with evolutionary theory and quantitative models are required. Proficiency in English at level C1 is essential.

Job Description:

  • Construct bacterial strains with common resistance mechanisms.
  • Perform experiments to measure fitness and estimate relevant parameters.
  • Conduct evolution experiments in unstructured and structured environments.
  • Engage in model-experiment feedback.
  • Communicate results through presentations and scientific publications.
  • Supervise BSc and MSc thesis students.
