Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- Demonstrable experience or a strong interest in molecular microbiology, laboratory techniques, and next-generation sequencing
- Collaborative spirit to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team and with clinical partners
- Experience in experimental design, bioinformatics, and data analysis
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Job Description: As a Postdoc, you will:
- Design patient inclusion criteria and determine outcome parameters for data collection
- Conduct comparative analysis of AMR prediction using short-read and long-read sequencing technologies
- Develop and standardize an end-to-end workflow for profiling pathogens and detecting AMR from pre-enriched cultures
- Collect and integrate clinical data alongside standard-of-care diagnostics and sequencing data
- Supervise the PhD student(s) recruited to the project
- Collaborate closely with researchers, technicians, and international partners in an interdisciplinary group
Working Environment:
- Be part of the Graduate School of Medical Sciences (GSMS) at the University of Groningen
- Engage in fundamental to patient-oriented research organized in three research institutes
- Potential role as a co-promotor for supervising a PhD student
