Postdoc in Host-Microbiome: The University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated and talented Postdoc fellow to join the Arumugam Group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR). The successful candidate will work on multidisciplinary research projects involving host-microbiome multi-omic data science. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in understanding the impact of the gut microbiome on health and disease.

Eligibility/Qualification: The Postdoc fellowship is open to early-career researchers with a basic science background. Candidates with a Ph.D. in computer science (informatics), mathematics, physics, or bioinformatics, or in biology with strong software development experience, are encouraged to apply. Strong analytical skills, experience in machine learning and statistical analysis, and proficiency in deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow) are required. Additionally, the candidate should have excellent teamwork skills, a track record of scientific productivity, and effective English communication skills.
Job Description: The Postdoc fellow will be responsible for improving and expanding current deep learning approaches in host-microbiome multi-omic data science. The role involves participating in and leading data science projects within consortia, such as GALAXY/MicrobLiver, MICROB-PREDICT, and PIG-PARADIGM. The candidate will collaborate with international data science partners and other project partners to integrate and interpret multi-omics data derived from the microbiome and host. The goal is to generate biologically relevant insights using a biologically informed machine learning framework.
In this position, the Postdoc fellow will:
- Improve and expand current deep learning approaches, as well as develop novel approaches.
- Participate in and lead data science projects within consortia and the Arumugam Group.
- Collaborate with clinical researchers, veterinarians, biologists, and bioinformaticians to interpret experimental results effectively.
