Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or a similar field
- Expertise in life cycle impact assessment, material flow analysis, or related areas, with a focus on natural resources
- Knowledge of mathematics and programming skills are advantageous
- Strong motivation for research and excellent communication skills in English
Job Description:
The successful candidate will focus on strengthening the department’s competencies within environmental impact modeling around natural resource use. They will undertake postdoctoral work within an EU Horizon project, Plastics2Olefins, to develop and apply improved resource footprinting approaches in the life cycle assessment of pyrolysis technologies. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing new frameworks and computing indicators for assessing the impacts of natural resource use in environmental sustainability assessments of products and technologies
- Assessing the environmental sustainability performance of pyrolysis of plastics
- Participating in and contributing to leading related tasks and work packages in an international research project
- Involvement in teaching activities including the supervision of MSc student projects and co-supervision of PhD student projects
