Eligibility / Qualifications
- Educational Background: A PhD (or equivalent) in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
- Key Technical Skills:
- Documented experience and high proficiency in atomic-resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM).
- Strong skills in scientific programming and data analysis (e.g., using Python).
- Documented background in one or more relevant domains: microfabricated devices/nanoreactors, 2D materials, heterogeneous catalysis, or surface science.
- Personal & Professional Competencies: Strong collaborative mindset, analytical problem-solving skills, and fluency in written and spoken English.
Job Description & Responsibilities
As a Postdoc at the VISION Center, your research tasks may include:
- Performing operando, low-dose-rate TEM to capture real-time atomic-scale dynamics of catalytic nanoparticles.
- Advancing ultrasensitive imaging and spectroscopy of gas–surface interactions, molecular adsorption, and active-site formation.
- Developing and operating microfabricated reactors for realistic catalytic reaction environments.
- Developing and implementing Python-based image/data analysis pipelines for time-resolved TEM datasets.
- Establishing quantitative links between 3D atomic structure, dynamics, and catalytic performance.
- Collaborating with computational and theoretical researchers to elucidate atomic-scale reaction mechanisms and catalyst stabilization strategies.
- Writing high-impact scientific publications and presenting results at international conferences.
