Become a postdoctoral researcher in machine learning and computations for drug design at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT).This position offers an opportunity to work on a collaborative contract for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal. You will help with advanced research in using computers and machine learning to discover new drugs as part of our work in Molecular Modeling and Drug Discovery.The role involves the development and application of modeling and simulations coupled with machine learning techniques to design and characterize chemical systems with applications in drug development. We are looking for highly motivated candidates with a strong background in physics, chemistry, computer science, applied mathematics, or related disciplines.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related disciplines
- Experience in simulations and/or machine learning, and computer-aided drug design
- Method development, programming, and scripting abilities are highly desirable
- Strong record of publications in top-tier conferences/journals in ML and/or Computational Chemistry
- Strong programming skills (Python, TensorFlow, etc.) and problem-solving attitude
- Ability to report, organize, and publish research results
- Documented experience in coaching junior scientists
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
Job Description:
- Conduct molecular modeling and simulations coupled with Machine Learning for small molecule drugs and complex protein/nucleic acid complexes.
- Write research papers and, when appropriate, open-source software to reproduce results.
- Present research findings to the team.
- Collaborate with computational and experimental researchers in medicinal chemistry, biochemistry, and pharmacology.
- Focus on developing and applying machine learning algorithms to study small molecules and their characterization.
- Work on drug targets such as membrane-bound proteins, ion channels and transporters, DNA and RNA processing enzymes, and other pharmaceutical proteins.
