Postdoc in Marine Chemistry: Quality Standards in the Marine Carbonate System (CO2-QC)
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher (M/F/D)
Research Area:
Marine Chemistry and Biogeochemistry with a specific focus on quality standards in the marine carbonate system.
Location:
Kiel, Germany at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research.
Eligibility/Qualification:
- A completed university degree and a Ph.D. in a marine science subject or a related field.
- Practical experience in chemical analysis or similar.
- Proficient in data analysis using Matlab, Python, or similar programs.
- Strong command of English (spoken and written).
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience with measurements of the marine carbon cycle.
- Familiarity with project work at the European level.
Job Description:
- Production and quality assessment of “in-house” reference materials for marine CO2 research.
- Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for creating “in-house” reference material.
- Long-term testing and operation of an instrument for pCO2 measurements in a laboratory setting.
- Analysis and assessment of results; collaborating with manufacturers for instrument improvements.
- Fieldwork involving instrument deployment in marine environments.
- Participation in research sea campaigns as necessary.
- Reporting and documentation of research findings for publication in international journals.
