Postdoc in Microbial Ecology: The Globe Institute is seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Postdoc for a 24-month position with possible extension. The role involves optimizing and implementing innovative technologies using oligopaints and laser microdissection to explore microbial interactions at the micro-scale within animal guts. The position starts on February 1, 2024.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in laboratory procedures related to microbial research, including confocal microscopy imaging, probe design, microbial genomics, and image processing.
  • Experience in managing, creating, and optimizing laboratory procedures.
  • A track record of leading high-impact publications.
  • Interest in microbe-microbe and animal-microbe interactions.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.

Job Description:

Postdoc in Exploring Micro-Scale Microbial Ecology Through Oligopaints and Laser Microdissection Technologies at the Globe Institute

As a Postdoc, you will be part of two projects aimed at increasing the spatial resolution of animal-associated microbiome analyses to the micron scale and generating detailed microbiome data. These projects include 3D’omics, implementing micro-scale metagenomic technologies, and InSituMicroSeq, developing in situ sequencing of barcoded probes targeting functional genes. You will generate and analyze micro-scale microbial data using advanced protocols and infrastructure. The role also includes a visit to Barcelona for analysis. You will work with various technologies and collaborate with a diverse team.
