Eligibility/Qualification
- Educational Requirement: Doctoral degree in marine geology, marine ecology, biogeochemistry, or a relevant equivalent.
- Experience: Previous research on benthic foraminifera or marine/sediment biogeochemistry.
- Language Proficiency: Very good oral and written English.
- Additional Criteria:
- Proven ability to lead and co-author scientific publications.
- Experience in sampling, preparation, and analysis of benthic foraminifera or other microeukaryotes.
- Familiarity with colorimetric and chemoluminescence analysis techniques is beneficial.
- Good social and communication skills.
Job Description
The successful candidate will:
- Independently plan and conduct fieldwork and lab analyses.
- Analyze sediment for living (CTG-labelled) benthic foraminifera and quantify densities using epifluorescent microscopy.
- Conduct nutrient analyses (nitrate and phosphate) in sediment porewater.
- Evaluate contributions of invasive foraminifera to fjord ecosystem functions.
- Collaborate with international research teams, present findings at conferences, and publish scientific papers.
- Engage in research-centered teaching at BSc and MSc levels.
