Postdoc in Single Cell RNA-Sequencing and Functional Genomics in Cardiovascular Biology

  • Eligibility/Qualification:
  • PhD degree or submitted thesis in a relevant area (e.g., biological science or a numeric discipline with experience in experimental research)
  • Conceptual understanding of gene regulation and functional genomics, preferably using single cell technologies
  • Interest in cardiovascular biology
  • Ability to plan and manage your own research project
  • Proactive attitude and drive
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team
  • Attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Experience in writing scientific manuscripts
  • Experience presenting ideas and findings
  • Job Description:
  • Conduct research to identify mechanisms underlying the heterogeneous cellular responses in human arteries to improve prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease
  • Generate and mine genomic datasets (e.g., single cell RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and ChIP-seq) and conduct in vitro screens, mechanistic and functional analysis using in vitro and in vivo disease models
  • Comfortable with both computational data analysis and an experimental research setting
  • Experience in functional genomics, computational data analysis, molecular and cell biology, and/or in vivo vascular disease models (at least two of these)
  • Knowledge of gene regulation, control of cell phenotype, and cardiovascular biology an advantage
  • Candidates in the process of submitting their PhD thesis or awaiting degree conferral will be considered
  • On receipt of the PhD award, the appointee would move to Grade 7, Research Associate
  • Strong publication record and knowledge of R and/or Python desirable
