Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Ecology, Soil Science, or Environmental Sciences
- Strong background in assessing soil biodiversity and functioning, with a focus on soil microbial communities
- Experience in fieldwork, controlled-environment experiments, and relevant techniques for soil analysis
- Proficient in statistical analyses, programming languages such as R, and sequencing methods for microbial community analysis
- Published research articles in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals
- Effective communication skills in English
- Full driving license valid in The Netherlands (Dutch or EU)
Job Description: The successful candidate will actively contribute to the broader goals of the European Biodiversa project. Responsibilities include participation in cross-European field sampling, analysis of resulting samples, conducting mechanistic experiments on grassland soil response to global change factors, and analyzing resulting data. The candidate will collaborate with the project team, contribute to the scientific direction, and communicate research plans and findings. Additional responsibilities include literature review, active participation in the Plant-Soil Ecology lab group, and potential supervision of students.
