Postdoc in the Chemistry, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

The University of Copenhagen has four campus areas. As distances in Copenhagen are relatively small, it is easy to get from one campus to the other either by bicycle or public transportation. The campus areas are integrated into the city of Copenhagen and students use the facilities available in the city, adding a lively buzz to the streets and cafés of Copenhagen.

Postdoc in the Chemistry: The Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, Section for Plant Biochemistry, offers a 2.5-year postdoc position to investigate the chemistry of the interaction between oat and the fungal pathogen Fusarium spp., starting from 1 April 2024, or as soon as possible thereafter.

Designation: Postdoc

Research Area: Chemistry of Oat-Fusarium Interactions

Location: Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences, University of Copenhagen, Denmark

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Recent Ph.D. degree in plant biochemistry or related fields.
  • Extensive experience in plant metabolomics.
  • Additional qualifications in purification and structural elucidation of metabolites, ‘omics technologies, plant molecular biology, enzyme biochemistry, general plant work, and/or plant pathology are advantageous.

Job Description:

Postdoc in the Chemistry of Oat-Fusarium Interactions

The postdoc will be responsible for research within plant biochemistry, analytical chemistry, and plant pathogen defense reactions. The role may also include teaching and other related duties. The position is part of the CerealGSTs project, aiming to identify detoxification pathways for Fusarium mycotoxins in oats, with a focus on glutathione transferase enzymes (GSTs). The candidate will drive metabolomics characterization, analyze infected tissues by mass spectrometry imaging, and contribute to identifying detoxification pathways through a combination of metabolomics, transcriptomics, and enzyme characterization.
