Postdoc in the Department of Zoology: The State Museum of Natural History Stuttgart (SMNS) is seeking a Postdoc in the Department of Zoology to engage in impactful research on biodiversity and evolutionary studies. This position, supported by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, offers an opportunity to contribute to significant projects associated with the Competence Centre Biodiversity and Integrative Taxonomy (KomBioTa) in collaboration with the University of Hohenheim.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Completed doctorate in biology or a related field.
  • Proven knowledge and experience in at least one research area such as biogeography, ecology, or conservation/population genetics, demonstrated through publications.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English; basic knowledge of German is a plus.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with molecular genetic/genomic methods, including bioinformatic analysis in biogeographical or ecological research.
  • Statistical analysis skills related to genetic and/or ecological data.
  • Familiarity with stable isotope analysis.

Job Description

  • Engage in research focusing on molecular biogeography, conservation genetics, analysis of faunal change, evolutionary morphology, or ecology.
  • Collaborate on existing projects within the SMNS or propose new research programs that are closely linked to existing zoological initiatives.
  • Responsibilities include the publication of research results in reputable scientific journals.
  • Work in well-equipped molecular laboratories and contribute to an international and multidisciplinary research environment.
