Postdoc in the Fluid Dynamics: DTU Aqua (The National Institute for Aquatic Resources, Technical University of Denmark) offers a 2-year Postdoc position focused on the functional ecology of phagotrophic flagellates and early eukaryotic evolution. This project combines live imaging of swimming and foraging flagellates with formal fluid physics analyses, in collaboration with international laboratories.

Research Area

Functional Ecology of Phagotrophic Flagellates and Early Eukaryotic Evolution

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD degree (or equivalent) in Biology, (Computational) Fluid Physics, or related fields
  • Experience in microscopy and flagellate ecology, or interest in small-scale fluid physics
  • Strong background in live imaging, fluid mechanical analyses, and laboratory research

Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining cultures of phagotrophic flagellates
  • Conducting live imaging and 3D modeling of motility patterns
  • Performing experiments to quantify foraging capacity and prey selectivity
  • Conducting formal fluid mechanical analyses, including computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Supervising BSc and MSc student projects
