Postdoc in the Neurobiology, Umeå University, Sweden

Postdoc Position (2 years) 2019 in Sweden, Umeå University

Postdoc in the Neurobiology: Join the Lagerlöf Lab at Umeå University in Sweden as a Postdoctoral Fellow and embark on a journey to uncover the mysteries of how the brain regulates feeding behavior. This exciting opportunity begins in November 2023 or by mutual agreement. If you are passionate about neuroscience and eager to explore the complex interplay of emotions, memory, and metabolic signaling in hunger and satiety, this position offers a chance to lead groundbreaking research projects. Together, we aim to shed light on the brain’s influence on our eating habits and address disorders like anorexia nervosa.

Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow

Research Area: Neurobiology of Feeding Behavior

Location: Umeå University, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience in animal behavior, biochemistry, molecular biology, stereotactic injections, neurocircuit mapping, and in vivo imaging is advantageous.
  • Ph.D. students within 3 months of degree certification are encouraged to apply, but the degree must be finalized before acceptance.

Job Description:

The Lagerlöf Lab is on a mission to explore the neural mechanisms behind feeding behavior, operating at the molecular, neuronal circuit, and behavioral levels. This postdoctoral fellowship offers the opportunity to lead projects that reveal novel insights into how the brain shapes our eating habits. We investigate the integration of emotions, memory, and metabolic signaling in encoding mental states like hunger and satiety. Our diverse projects include molecular mechanisms, imaging, mapping, and manipulating neuronal circuits in rodents.

As a postdoctoral fellow, you’ll have the freedom to develop your research plan and explore the big questions in neuroscience. We are dedicated to supporting your career growth and helping you take the next step toward your professional goals.

How to Apply:

To apply for this position, please submit the following:

  1. Curriculum Vitae
  2. Cover letter describing your research interests, reasons for joining us, how you can contribute to the lab and project, and your career plans after the fellowship ends.
  3. Publication list
  4. Copies of relevant degree certificates
  5. Two reference letters

Submit your application as a PDF with the reference number FS 2.1.6-1894-23, both in the file name and the email subject field, to medel@diarie.umu.se. You may write the application in either English or Swedish.

Last Date for Apply: Application deadline is 31 October 2023.

For further information about the project and the fellowship, please contact Assistant Professor Olof Lagerlöf at olof.lagerlof@umu.se.

Join us on this exciting research journey and be part of the Lagerlöf Lab’s pursuit of understanding the brain’s role in feeding behavior. Your contributions can make a significant impact on this critical area of neuroscience.
