Postdoc in Theoretical Chemistry: The School of Engineering Sciences in Chemistry, Biotechnology, and Health at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, is offering a postdoctoral research position in theoretical chemistry. This position is part of the joint project “Enlightening Biology: Bridging Time-Resolved Experiments In Silico” between KTH and Linköping University. The project focuses on developing methods for automated and systematic quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) excited-state dynamics simulations of photoactive proteins. This unique opportunity involves interdisciplinary collaboration and cutting-edge research at a leading technical university.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Theoretical Chemistry with a Focus on Light-Induced Processes in Photoactive Proteins

Location: Stockholm, Sweden

Eligibility/Qualification: Requirements:

  • A doctoral degree in chemistry, physics, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of theoretical and computational chemistry.
  • Advanced programming skills in C++, Python, or similar languages.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals and experience with theory and code development for molecular simulations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication skills, especially with computer scientists in visualization and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
  • Awareness of diversity and equal opportunity issues, with a focus on gender equality.

Preferred qualifications:

  • A doctoral degree obtained within the last three years before the application deadline.
  • Expertise in QM/MM simulations.
  • Interest in knowledge sharing, including mentoring and teaching.

Job Description:

Postdoc in Theoretical Chemistry with Focus on Photoactive Proteins

The postdoc will:

  • Work on automated and systematic QM/MM excited-state dynamics simulations of photoactive proteins.
  • Collaborate with the other postdoc to develop novel analysis and visualization techniques for complex simulation data.
  • Conduct research and may be involved in teaching (up to 20% of working hours).
