Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD and Master’s degree in Physics, Space Science, or a related field
  • Experience in processing and analyzing large data sets
  • Demonstrated expertise in utilizing machine learning techniques for data analysis and modeling
  • Advanced scientific programming skills, particularly in Python and MATLAB
  • Knowledge of Unix, Mac, and Windows operating systems
  • Experience in maintaining Unix workstations
  • Ability to work within a team
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent English skills

Job Description:
You will be working on the MIPT project: Ionospheric and plasmaspheric dynamics from observations, machine learning, and physics-based modeling. Responsibilities include:

  • Performing data processing and analysis
  • Developing and maintaining machine learning models of the particle dynamics in the near-Earth space
  • Deploying the developed models for real-time operations
  • Maintaining data and code repositories
  • Developing scientific visualizations of the results
  • Conducting scientific research in the field of space physics
  • Attending scientific meetings, including international conferences, and presenting the results
  • Writing manuscripts that will be published in peer-reviewed journals
  • Collaborating within the MIPT Research Unit

  • Salary: The position is classed as salary group 13 according to “TVöD Bund (Tarifgebiet Ost)”. The salary group is determined on the basis of the Collective Wage Agreement and the respective personal qualifications.
  • Working hours: Full-time (currently 39 h/week); The position is generally suitable for part-time work.
