Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in particle toxicology, molecular life sciences, or a relevant field.
  • Available to start the project from May 1st, 2024, or earlier.
  • Experience in tissue cultures, molecular biology, and analytical chemistry (LC-MS based).
  • Proven bioinformatics skills for data analysis.
  • Strong background in experimental science with the ability to perform independent lab work.
  • Affinity for collaborative projects and willingness to work in Wageningen and Amsterdam-based laboratories.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficient in English (CEFR C2 level).

Job Description:

The Postdoc will:

  • Investigate the potential effects of micro and nanoplastics on the human intestine using an organ-on-chip device.
  • Utilize analytical chemistry-based proteomics approaches to assess the biocorona formed on the particles.
  • Relate biocorona findings to potential adverse effects on intestinal cells.
  • Supervise PhD and MSc thesis students within the research teams.
  • Collaborate with scientists from Wageningen University, Wageningen Food Safety Research, and the GUMI lab at The Swammerdam Institute.
