The University of Copenhagen has four campus areas. As distances in Copenhagen are relatively small, it is easy to get from one campus to the other either by bicycle or public transportation. Postdoc on Macroecology: A two-year postdoc position is available at the Center for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate (CMEC) at the Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen. The position is part of a larger grant focused on evidence-based nature conservation and management of terrestrial habitats in temperate Europe.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Conservation Science, Ecology, Biology, or other Environmental Sciences

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in conservation science, ecology, biology, or other environmental sciences
  • Published first-author papers in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Deep understanding of ecosystem dynamics in temperate terrestrial ecosystems
  • Experience with monitoring of biodiversity, including field-based assessment of habitat structures and biodiversity
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken

Job Description:

  • Conduct a systematic review of the international scientific literature to identify suitable indicators and monitoring approaches for a dynamic approach to nature restoration
  • Lead the development of one or more papers for publication in international peer-reviewed journals
  • Gain experience in teaching and supervise MSc and BSc student thesis projects
