Job Description: The postdoc position is part of a larger grant project led by Associate Professor Jacob Heilmann-Clausen, funded by Aage V. Jensens Naturfond and 15. Juni Fonden. The project aims to explore how a dynamic understanding of ecosystems can be integrated into evidence-based nature conservation. The focus is on transitioning from traditional fixed conservation goals to dynamic, “open-ended” goals without losing objectivity and measurability. The postdoc will conduct a systematic review of the international scientific literature to identify indicators and monitoring approaches suitable for this dynamic approach to nature restoration. The role includes leading the development of papers for publication in international peer-reviewed journals and gaining teaching experience.
Profile: We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with the following competencies and experience:
Essential:
- PhD in conservation science, ecology, biology, or related environmental sciences.
- First-author publications in international peer-reviewed journals.
- Deep understanding of ecosystem dynamics in temperate terrestrial ecosystems.
- Experience with biodiversity monitoring, including field-based assessments.
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Desirable:
- Experience in teaching and supervising undergraduate and MSc students.
- Statistical analysis experience (e.g., Mixed-Effects models, process-based models).
- Experience with multitaxa biodiversity data.
- Experience with systematic reviews or perspective papers on habitat restoration.
- Experience with remote sensing.
- Experience with corporate nature projects and the EU taxonomy.

Terms of Employment:
- Average weekly working hours: 37 hours per week.
- Fixed-term position for 2 years.
- Monthly salary starts at 36,410 DKK (approx. 4,880 EUR) with a possible supplement based on qualifications.
- Additional 17.1% employer contribution to the pension fund.
