Job Description:

Postdoc Position: Advanced Photonics for Ultrafast Chiral Spectroscopy in the Deep Ultraviolet

The successful candidate will be involved in an exciting project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Royal Society International Exchange Grant. The project aims to implement an advanced ultrafast chiral spectroscopy instrument for studying electronic and structural dynamics in ultraviolet chromophores. Collaborating closely with experts from Heriot-Watt University, the candidate will lead the development of state-of-the-art ultrafast spectroscopy setups using customized hollow-core fiber laser pulse sources to generate deep ultraviolet laser pulses. The project will offer access to important ultraviolet chromophores’ dynamics, including nucleobases in DNA, amino acids and peptide bonds in proteins, and small organic ligands in molecular systems.

How to Apply: Interested candidates are invited to submit their application as a single PDF file to group-oppermann@unibas.ch. The application should include the following components:

  1. A motivation letter (maximum one A4 page) demonstrating suitability for the position.
  2. Curriculum vitae (including a list of publications).
  3. Scanned transcripts of university transcripts and diplomas with grades.
  4. Contact information for at least three referees who can provide recommendations.

Last Date for Apply: The position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found. We encourage you to apply at your earliest convenience.
