Research Area

The focus of this project is on investigating bioinspired solutions that can replace traditional plastics with sustainable protein-based materials. The research will involve polymer chemistry, engineering, and cutting-edge manufacturing techniques.

Location

Stuttgart, Germany, at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Doctoral degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience in preparing research articles.
  • Familiarity with polymers, hydrogels, and biopolymer systems is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of extrusion-based printing, microfluidics, or fluidic mixing systems is desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • A keen interest in materials development and interdisciplinary research.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will focus on:

  • Synthesis of protein-based biomaterials and crosslinking strategies.
  • Multi-material 3D printing of custom materials.
  • Developing microfluidic mixing strategies for on-demand material development.
