:Postdoc Position in Environmental TEM: The Georg-August-University Göttingen, Institute of Material Physics, is offering an excellent opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Environmental Transmission Electron Microscopy (ETEM). This role involves cutting-edge research aimed at revolutionizing the understanding of catalytic processes on the atomic scale, particularly focusing on the electrochemical water splitting interface.
Postdoc Position in Environmental Transmission Electron Microscopy
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Environmental Transmission Electron Microscopy, with a focus on catalytic processes and electrochemical water splitting mechanisms.
Location: Göttingen, Niedersachsen, Germany
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree in physics, materials sciences, or closely related fields.
- PhD with a specialization in electron microscopy or catalysis.
- Professional experience in operating a Transmission Electron Microscope.
- Strong motivation for advancing in-situ electron microscopy and the study of materials in non-equilibrium states.
- Excellent communication skills in English.
- Teamwork and self-motivation to achieve project goals.
Preferred Experience:
- Experience or interest in quantitative TEM image simulation.
- Experience with in-situ or ETEM experiments.
Job Description:
The appointed candidate will work in a dynamic team of young scientists using various in-situ TEM techniques. The main goal is to correlate atomic structure information of active states of oxide catalysts with reaction products measurements in oxygen evolution reactions. Responsibilities include:
- Establishing a local mass spectrometry probe in a differentially pumped ETEM system.
- Measuring the chemical environment of samples and reaction products formed in oxygen evolution electrocatalysis.
- Applying high-resolution and analytical TEM techniques like HRTEM, STEM, EELS, or holography.
- Collaborating with project partners to drive research goals.
