Research Area

The project aims to investigate the mechanisms that regulate early termination versus productive elongation of RNA Polymerase II. This research is vital for understanding gene expression, which is essential for cell identity.

Location

Utrecht University, Department of Biology, Utrecht, The Netherlands

Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD (or on track to obtain) in a relevant discipline.
  • First or co-author publications/preprints in the gene regulation field or closely related areas.
  • Experience with at least two of the following: cell engineering, high-throughput assays, transcriptomics, genomics, and sequencing data analysis.
  • Proficient in spoken and written academic English.

Job Description

The successful candidate will:

  • Use cutting-edge techniques like nascent-RNA sequencing, high-throughput screening, and genome editing.
  • Conduct pooled CRISPR screens and map transcriptional effects using RNA-seq, TT-seq, and PRO-seq.
  • Engage in bioinformatic analysis of generated sequencing data.
  • Work independently and collaboratively within the research team.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful research environment.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should submit the following:

  • A letter of motivation discussing your interest in the position and suitability.
  • A curriculum vitae (CV).
