Postdoc Position in Metabolic Imaging: The Department of Nuclear Medicine at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of a Postdoctoral Researcher in Metabolic Imaging of Muscle Metabolism. The successful candidate will be involved in cutting-edge multidisciplinary research aimed at elucidating the underlying metabolic mechanisms of muscle metabolism using advanced methods of metabolic research.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Excellent M.Sc. or equivalent degree in physics, chemistry, biomedical engineering, or related fields
  • Previous experience in biomedical imaging is advantageous
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, MATLAB)
  • Team spirit, capability for independent, self-motivated study
  • Strong English and communication skills

Job Description:
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Establishing imaging biomarkers in a preclinical setting based on magnetic resonance imaging and positron emission tomography
  • Implementation and optimization of deuterium, 1H MRSI, and hyperpolarized 13C metabolic MRI for muscle research
  • Conducting [18F]FDG-PET small animal imaging
  • Developing imaging protocols, processing, and analysis
  • Presenting and publishing scientific results
  • Formulating imaging strategies for early-stage detection, tumor phenotyping, and therapy response evaluation
