Postdoc Position in Minerals: The Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management (IGN) at the University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is seeking applications for a two-year Postdoc position. The position is funded by a Carlsberg Foundation Semper Ardens: Accelerate Grant and is focused on the topic of “Minerals in the Plastisphere: influence on biological interactions and plastic degradation.” The chosen candidate will join the Posth Lab in the Sedimentary Systems Research Group, Geology Section of IGN. They will be responsible for research, teaching/supervision, and scientific outreach.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in a relevant discipline such as geochemistry, mineralogy, materials science, polymer science, biogeochemistry, or geomicrobiology.
- Aptitude for laboratory work and interdisciplinary research.
- Strong motivation and ability to work independently.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Interest in teaching and outreach activities.
- Creativity, curiosity, and independent thinking.
Job Description: The selected Postdoc will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Conducting research on the interaction between minerals and plastic degradation in sediment over time.
- Employing mineralogical and geochemical approaches to study mineral-influenced plastic degradation.
- Investigating the role of metals in plastic degradation and simulating plastic diagenesis in sediment.
- Quantifying reaction products across diverse sediment matrices.
- Managing the daily aspects of the research project, coordinating with other group members.
- Training and co-supervision of staff members and students.
- Potential involvement in teaching and outreach activities.
