Postdoc Position in Modelling of Life: The Computational Science Lab at the University of Amsterdam (UvA) is inviting applications for a post-doctoral researcher position focused on understanding how the microbiome influences early childhood health. This position is part of the MetaHealth project and seeks an ambitious researcher to tackle health inequalities from the earliest stages of life in an interdisciplinary research setting.

Computational Modelling in Biomedical Sciences focusing on microbiome impacts on early childhood health.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in computational modelling or a closely related discipline.
  • Substantial research experience in biomedical, psychobiological, or data-driven dietary modelling.
  • Publications in international refereed academic journals.
  • Flexible and willing to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation.

Job Description:
The selected candidate will:

  • Develop and validate mathematical models to numerically simulate the interplay of metabolites, lifestyle, and sociocultural factors affecting oral and metabolic health during the first 1000 days of life.
  • Model behavioral, environmental, and sociocultural aspects of microbiome-host developments to address intrapopulation variations.
  • Explore how perturbations in the microbiome influence child health.
  • Design macro-level interventions related to lifestyle and microbiome health.
  • Dedicate 10% of time to academic teaching, guiding students, and delivering guest lectures.
  • Participate in departmental activities, research seminars, and grant applications.
