It includes evaluating binding and viral inhibition using biophysical techniques (such as SPR and BLI), performing cell-based assays, and determining structural complexes using cryo-EM in collaboration with structural biology experts.
Location
The position will be based at the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO), Aarhus University, Gustav Wieds Vej 14, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.
Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, or Medicinal Chemistry.
- Required Experience: Hands-on experience with RNA and/or nucleic acid nanotechnology.
- Preferable Skills:
- Aptamer selection and Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS).
- Bioconjugation strategies and binding/cell assays.
- Experience with cryo-EM structural determination and bioinformatics pipelines is advantageous.
- Must be socially oriented, self-driven, and able to work both independently and within an international collaborative team.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.
Job Description
The recruited postdoc will contribute to an international and interdisciplinary project focused on:
- Developing RNA-based therapeutics using chemically modified RNAs through SELEX methods.
- Evaluating binding affinity and viral inhibition via biophysical tools like SPR (Surface Plasmon Resonance) or BLI (Biolayer Interferometry).
- Performing cell-based assays and collaborating with structural biologists to utilize cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM) for determining RNA-protein complexes.
- Collaborating within a vibrant interdisciplinary team comprising chemical biologists, virologists, and other researchers.
Benefits
Aarhus University and iNANO provide:
- Access to state-of-the-art laboratory and research infrastructure, including shared equipment and clean-room facilities.
- A dynamic, interdisciplinary, and highly collaborative research environment.
- Opportunities for national and international collaborations.
- A workplace with emphasis on equality, professionalism, and a healthy work-life balance.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted via the Aarhus University’s recruitment system, referenced under the job advertisement on their website.
The application must include:
- CV including educational background and work experience.
- A degree certificate.
- A complete list of publications.
