Postdoc Position in Soft Robotic: SDU Soft Robotics in the Biorobotics section at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) is inviting applications for a fully-funded 2-year postdoctoral position in Soft Robotics with a focus on Tactile Perception. The successful candidate will contribute to a project developing a sensate soft robot with rich tactile sensing capabilities, inspired by Nature’s tactile specialists. This position is part of the project “Seeing without Seeing through Bioinspired Soft Touch,” funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark through a Sapere Aude: DFF-Starting Grant.

Designation: Postdoctoral Associate

Research Area: Soft Robotics with a focus on Tactile Perception

Location: Odense, Denmark

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Recent PhD in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a closely related field.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research, with a focus on designing and fabricating physical robots using digital fabrication and 3D printing techniques.
  • Excellent programming skills, with a preference for experience in finite element simulations and machine learning.
  • Track record of publishing high-quality research in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings.
  • Keen interest in contributing to teaching activities within the SDU Biorobotics community.

Job Description: The Postdoctoral Associate will:

  • Contribute to the development of a sensate soft robot with rich tactile sensing capabilities.
  • Work on system-level development of hardware and software for integrated actuation, sensing, control, and learning in a unified soft robotic system.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in the SDU Biorobotics section.
  • Engage in research predominantly, with the possibility of teaching assignments.
