Postdoc Position in the ATLAS Group: The Nikhef institute in Amsterdam is seeking a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher to join the ATLAS group. The successful candidate will focus on Higgs boson pair production and the application of advanced machine learning techniques in particle physics. Research Area

The research focus will encompass the following topics related to the Higgs boson:

  • Two-Higgs production processes.
  • Analysis of complex final states: HH>bbbb, HH>bbττ, and ttHH production.
  • Application of machine learning methods for data selection and analysis.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Candidates must hold (or be close to completing) a PhD in high-energy physics.
  • A strong track record in data analysis and software skills is required.
  • Candidates should have several years of research experience in experimental particle physics and significant experience in applying machine learning algorithms in data selection.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Focus on enhancing selection criteria for two-Higgs production.
  • Utilize advanced machine learning methods, including Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) and transformer models for classifier and regression purposes.
  • Coordinate the work of PhD students in di-Higgs analyses, promoting collaboration and shared development methodologies.
  • Work closely with supervisors Dr. Flavia de Almeida Dias and Dr. Clara Nellist, contributing to the NWO-funded physics program, “The potential of the Higgs boson”.
