Eligibility/Qualification
- Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physics, chemistry, or related fields.
- A broad and excellent knowledge of molecular spectroscopy and linear/nonlinear optics is required.
- Experimental experience in one or more of the following areas is beneficial:
- Ultrafast spectroscopy
- Vibrational Sum Frequency Generation (SFG) spectroscopy
- Pump-probe spectroscopy
- Optical microscopy
- Super-resolution techniques
- Candidates should demonstrate a collaborative spirit and the ability to work in an international research environment.
- A strong affinity for conducting complex experiments and a high drive to solve scientific and practical/instrumental challenges is essential.
Job Description
The selected candidate will engage in cutting-edge research within the Department of Physical Chemistry, with a focus on:
- Investigating heterogeneous molecular- and nanoscopic structures at interfaces.
- Utilizing advanced technological tools for depth-resolved nonlinear vibrational spectroscopy.
- Exploring ongoing projects, including:
- Depth-dependent water structures at charged and uncharged aqueous interfaces.
- Molecular packing structures in model lipid membranes.
- Sub-diffraction phonon imaging in 2D van der Waals materials.
The position offers significant freedom to propose and develop individual research projects, supported by a Max-Planck training and mentoring program focused on career development through the Planck Academy.
