Postdoc in Germany

Postdoc Position on Metabolic Engineering: The Department of Geosciences at the University of Tübingen invites applications for a Postdoc Position on Metabolic Engineering within the research group of Environmental Biotechnology. The group focuses on innovative approaches to recover carbon from diverse waste streams using microbial cultures, including syngas fermentation for carbon recovery from industrial waste gases with acetogenic bacteria.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Metabolic Engineering in Environmental Biotechnology

Location: University of Tübingen, Department of Geosciences (http://envbiotech.de/)

Eligibility/Qualification: Qualified candidates should possess a doctoral degree in (micro)biology, biotechnology, biological engineering, or related fields. The position is part of a VW foundation-funded collaborative project on bioproduction in gas fermentation. Experience in genetic modification and synthetic biology with anaerobic microbes is required. Additional expertise in genome-scale metabolic modeling is a plus but not mandatory.

Job Description:

The postdoctoral researcher will be engaged in a collaborative project focusing on the genetic engineering of acetogenic bacteria for biopolymer production. Key responsibilities include:

  • Implementation of metabolic engineering strategies to enhance pathways, particularly for precursor generation.
  • Management of the project, including supervision of bachelor and master students.
  • Collaboration with other researchers at the University of Tübingen.
  • Presentation of research findings in international journals and conferences.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their applications (in English) as a single PDF document to bastian.molitor@uni-tuebingen.de. The application must include a cover letter, CV, overview of techniques and methods used in the past, transcripts and diplomas, and contact details of at least two referees.
