Postdoc Position: Parasitic Nematodes: The Laboratory of Nematology at Wageningen University and Research is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral candidate with expertise in next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and plant biology. The project aims to unravel the mechanisms behind the initiation and development of feeding cells induced by parasitic nematodes in plants. Location: Wageningen University and Research, Wageningen

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Ph.D. in plant biology, genetics, or molecular biology.
  • Expertise in next-generation sequencing, bioinformatics, and plant biology.
  • Demonstrated research experience in relevant approaches.
  • Strong desire to contribute to an interdisciplinary project.
  • Proficiency in English.

Job Description:

  • Utilize state-of-the-art functional genomics methods such as spatial transcriptomics and single-cell mRNA sequencing.
  • Investigate the initiation and development of feeding cells induced by parasitic nematodes.
  • Identify critical steps to block feeding site formation and combat nematode infection.
  • Collaborate with the Department of Nematology at Wageningen University and the Hubrecht Institute.
