Postdoc Position: Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design: Join us in exploring the integration of safety, sustainability, and circularity in chemical, material, and product design. This postdoc position offers the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and pioneer innovative approaches in Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to synthesize the lessons learned from pioneering projects in Amsterdam, Delft, and Maastricht related to Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design. As part of a collaborative team, you will compare and contrast findings, integrate lessons, and develop an overarching approach to address the tensions between safety, sustainability, and circularity values. Key responsibilities include:

  • Integrating insights on safety, sustainability, and circularity
  • Investigating ecosystems of actors and their interdependencies
  • Studying decision-making dynamics
  • Comparing findings with lessons learned elsewhere
  • Developing an overall approach to Safe-and-Sustainable-by-Design
  • Contributing to a productive team effort

Requirements:

  • PhD in social studies of science and technology (STS), Innovation Studies, or similar field
  • Experience in researching industrial dynamics
  • Strong writing skills with a sensibility for policy relevance
  • Interest in collaborative interdisciplinary research
  • Proficiency in English, and preferably some understanding of Dutch
