Eligibility/Qualification

General Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
  • Programming experience in R or Python.
  • Motivation to combine rigorous research with social impact.
  • Interest in sustainability and the energy transition.

For PhD Candidates:

  • Academic Master’s or MPhil/Research Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Excellent GPA (top 10% of class).
  • Proficiency in English (IELTS 7.0, TOEFL 100 iBT, or equivalent).
  • Solid quantitative background (24 ECTS in quantitative methods or recent GRE/GMAT score).

For Postdoc Candidates:

  • Doctoral/PhD degree in Economics (completed by 1 September 2024).
  • Demonstrated research experience through publications or conference presentations.
  • Excellent English-language academic writing skills.
  • Project management skills and experience in research collaborations.

Description

The positions are part of two major projects:

  1. Academic Collaborative Center for Climate and Energy: This project addresses climate and energy transition challenges in collaboration with governments, businesses, and civil society.
  2. Horizon Europe Project CircoMod: This EU project focuses on developing analytical and quantitative models for circular economy strategies.

Researchers will work on empirical studies of small energy users, dynamic pricing, energy contracts, and market responses to renewable energy supply. The roles include potential teaching tasks, supervised by leading economists and supported by a large group of environmental economists at Tilburg University.
