Postdoc Research Fellow: The University College London (UCL) Chemistry Department is seeking a Research Fellow to lead the development of spectroscopic techniques for studying intramolecular interactions in host-guest complexes. This role involves working on an EPSRC-funded project in collaboration with Drs. John Lee and Cally Haynes at UCL and Dr. Anna McConnell at the University of Siegen. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in spectroscopy, with experience in ultrafast optical techniques or X-ray spectroscopic methods. Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in spectroscopy.
  • Experience in ultrafast optical techniques or X-ray spectroscopy is advantageous.
  • Strong data analysis skills.
  • Programming experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to plan, execute, and analyze experiments.
  • Willingness to work at UCL laboratories and international synchrotron and X-ray free-electron lasers.
  • Salary range: £40,524 – £48,763 per annum (including London Allowance of £4,500 p.a.).

Job Description: As a Research Fellow, you will lead the development of spectroscopic techniques to study intramolecular interactions in host-guest complexes. Collaborating with a dynamic team, you will plan, execute, and analyze experiments in UCL laboratories and international synchrotron and X-ray free-electron lasers. This role includes data analysis, presenting results to various audiences, and contributing to an interdisciplinary research project. The post is for up to 33 months, starting in October 2023, with some flexibility.
