Postdoc / Research Software Engineer (f/m/x) in Arctic Amplification

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in meteorology, mathematics, computer science, or related fields
  • Strong experience in atmospheric modeling
  • Knowledge of Arctic meteorology
  • Advanced programming skills (Fortran, UNIX system, HPC)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • High interest in supporting project scientists and participating in project meetings
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English

Job Description: The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Developing and coordinating hectometer (cloud-resolving) simulations with ICON for various activities related to improved understanding of Arctic Amplification.
  2. Improving and professionalizing ICON-LEM testbed setup for an Arctic location.
  3. Developing new products to evaluate cloud parameterizations based on remote sensing observations and simulations.
  4. Processing and managing data from existing and upcoming simulations.
  5. Providing community support for setup and analysis of simulations, existing output, and implementing training courses.
