Job Description: The Postdoc will be involved in a 30-month collaborative project, starting with two bibliographical studies on sensor data fusion for detection and tracking of agents/targets in an outdoor mobile-manipulator robot context. Subsequently, the candidate will implement functionalities for target detection and tracking using machine learning techniques and sensor data fusion. This includes developing spatiotemporal analysis for real-time collision detection between the mobile manipulator and detected mobile agents.
Validation of algorithms will involve proof of concept in the laboratory and transfer for evaluation on construction machinery at the construction site. The Postdoc will contribute to conference papers in Robotics and/or Computer Vision communities.
Activities:
- State of the art and contributions to vision and mobile robotics.
- Algorithm development in C/C++/Python.
- Technical project management.
- Documentation, organization, testing, and formal presentations.
Skills:
- PhD in vision and mobile robotics.
- Knowledge of machine learning and robotics.
- Kinematic models for mobile robots and/or manipulators.
- Vision and machine learning tools: OpenCV, CNN architectures, and libraries.
- Sensor data-fusion.
- Autonomy and teamwork.
- Excellent writing skills in English.
Work Context: The position is part of an R&D project with a consortium coordinated by ACTIA Automotive. The work will be carried out in collaboration with the RAP team of the LAAS-CNRS, experts in Robotics and Computer Vision. The Postdoc will participate in project meetings, document drafting, and real-life evaluations on targeted site machines.
