Eligibility & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Education: A PhD degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or an international equivalent deemed equivalent). The degree must be obtained by the time of the employment decision.
- Note: Candidates who obtained their PhD within three years prior to the application deadline are primarily considered. (Extensions may be granted for parental leave, illness, union duties, etc.).
- Technical Experience:
- Documented experience in the synthesis and characterization of inorganic solid-state materials.
- Structural characterization using X-ray and neutron diffraction techniques.
- Ion transport characterization using electrical impedance spectroscopy (EIS).
- Hands-on experience handling air- and moisture-sensitive materials under inert atmosphere (gloveboxes).
- Familiarity with cell assembly and electrochemical testing in battery cells.
- Language & Soft Skills:
- High oral and written proficiency in English.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently with scientific drive and collaborative spirit.
- Proficiency in scientific data analysis, documentation, and visualization tools (e.g., Origin).
Desirable / Additional Qualifications
- Experience with complementary physico-chemical characterization methods such as X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Solid-State Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
Job Description & Responsibilities
- Core Research:
- Synthesize novel halide-based solid electrolyte compositions.
- Investigate the degradation mechanisms and interfacial reactions between solid electrolytes and battery electrode materials.
- Elucidate the trade-offs between high ionic conductivity and electrochemical/chemical stability.
- Perform advanced structural, electrochemical, and full-cell performance evaluations.
- Supervision & Teaching:
- Supervise and collaborate with Master’s and PhD students.
- Opportunity to participate in teaching assignments within the department (up to 20% of working time).
