Postdoctor in Integrative Agroecology: Agroscope, the Swiss federal center of excellence for research in agriculture and food, is seeking a Postdoctorand to join the ‘Integrative Agroecology’ Research Group based in Zürich. This position involves research on designing agricultural systems for efficiency, particularly in low-and-middle-income countries, as part of the agri-environmental monitoring program.

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in Environmental Systems Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, or related field
  • Broad understanding of agricultural systems, particularly in East Africa
  • Proficiency in programming, particularly in R or similar language
  • Fluent in English and German (French is a bonus)
  • Willingness to travel to Kenya and Uganda
  • Strong organizational and communication skills

Job Description:

  • Conduct data surveys, especially interviews, on farms in Kenya and Uganda
  • Prepare and analyze data for calculating project indicators and FAO data
  • Programming activities in R for indicator calculation
  • Collaborate with project partners and NGOs
  • Draft scientific articles and blog posts, assist in research funding acquisition
